Diversity in the workplace is an ongoing topic, not just to see an increase of women in STEM industries but to see an increase of women of color in STEM industries. A recent article from Geekwire shows:
“[a] study found that women were offered lower salaries than men 63 percent of the time when both candidates were being offered the same position at the same company. That’s down from 69 percent in the study last year.
On average, women were offered salaries that were four percent lower than those offered to men, and in one out of every ten cases that gap was 20 percent or more. In some cases, the gap was as high as 50 percent.”
Thanks to organizations like Change Catalyst and Women in Technology International among many others, there is a constant and committed effort to break the gender and diversity gap.
